“Crown Racing heavy hitters perform in the final race of the season”
September 12, 2023 – The Blue Marble Radical Cup North America series crowned three driver champions this past weekend in California along with three team champions. Crown Racing, the Pro 1340 class Team Champion, was determined to clinch the title, dawning an eight-car lineup at Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca, their biggest driver contingent yet.
Among the eight Crown Racing competitors was seasoned veteran Chris McMurry, claiming two wins for the Arizona-based team with season-runner Seth Bacon tagging behind with one win and one third-place podium. Young gun Jace Bacon, Seth’s son, was in contention for the Pro 1340 driver championship but came up just shy of the points needed to clinch the title this season but still managed to earn a trip to the podium with a second-place appearance as well as an additional top-five finish during the weekend. Also returning with Crown Racing this weekend was Jason Plotke, claiming two third-place results in the Platinum class.
Joining Crown Racing this weekend was a slew of APEX Motor Club racers all of whom finished in the top-ten. Vince Switzer was a breakout driver, claiming a pair of top-five results in races one and two and a sixth-place finish in race three. Following him were Evan Wolf, Carl Fredrikson and Eric Griffin, all claiming top-ten results in all three races of the weekend.
Despite coming up just short of the driver championship, Crown Racing’s efforts this year have put them first in the Pro 1340 class team championship.
“We’re extremely proud of the work this team has done this weekend and throughout the season,” explains Team Manager Joey Martin. “Bringing home the Pro 1340 team championship is the result of that dedication. Our goal for this race in California was to showcase the amazing talent coming out of APEX Motor Club, and I think we achieved that. We’ll be looking forward to doing more of that in the 2024 season.”
