Crown Concepts was tasked to build a completely custom off-road capable resto-mod from an original 1961 Willy Jeep Truck.
We started with a completely stock 1961 Willys Jeep truck that did run and drive and had all of the original equipment. This truck was not in bad condition to start with but had been neglected for some years prior to us receiving it. The customer had a very specific vision in mind to have a very off-road capable truck but keep an original style body of this truck. Working with our team we came up with what we thought checked all of the boxes for the customer.
Our plan is to retain as much as the original body as we can, and modify original parts where needed to keep the classic look. We will build a completely custom chassis here at Crown Concepts that will fit both the form and function needed for the customer’s specifications. We will swap out the original six cylinder flat-head engine and 3-speed transmission for a Cummins R 2.8L turbo diesel mated to a Tremec TR4050 5-speed. Four wheel drive will be handled by an Atlas II transfer case and Currie Rock Jock 60 front and rear axels. The truck will have four wheel disc brake and sit on 35 inch tires. The truck will also have a lot of great modern upgrades such as new interior, Holley 7 inch pro digital dash, keyless entry, push button start, upgraded stereo system, etc.
We are excited to see the progress on this truck because it is drastically different from what we are usually asked to build such as muscle cars and classic resto-mods.
