TB-MX5-PENSKE-001
Subject: Penske Damper Guidance for IMSA MX-5 Cup
Applies To: IMSA Mazda MX-5 Cup Only
Priority: High
Effective: 2025 Season
Purpose
This bulletin does not apply to other series, but based on how these dampers respond, upgrading is recommended.
This document exists to explain what changed and why. IMSA MX-5 Cup now requires a spec Penske damper package to remove hardware variability, simplify inspection, and tighten the performance window across the field. The official technical service bulletin outlines the required components, adjustment architecture, sealing requirements, and service path for the Cup car damper package. The intent is not to give teams more parts, but to give the series and teams a common reference point for damping behavior and compliance.
If you are running a different damper package, the next step is not guessing at setup changes, it is understanding. Adjustable dampers can be one of the fastest balance tools on the car, but only when the platform is predictable and understood. That is why this package is required at the spec level and why we recommend it outside of Cup racing as well.
If parts of this do not immediately make sense, that is normal. This bulletin is the reference. Crown Engineering is the resource.
