1963 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible

The build in detail.

The 1963 Corvette Sting Ray introduced a genuinely new shape to America, all curves and hidden headlights on a body that looked like nothing Chevrolet had built before. This convertible got a genuinely new set of bones to match. Crown’s build started from the ground up on a Roadster Shop Spec 3 chassis, engineering that simply did not exist when this car left the factory.

Before the body ever touched it, the chassis came together on its own. An LS3 crate engine sits low and centered, flanked by Baer disc brakes at all four corners and adjustable coilovers that let the suspension actually be tuned instead of just replaced. Seeing it bare, wheels and engine mounted with nothing else in the way, is seeing exactly how a modern Corvette chassis should look under a body sixty years older than the parts holding it up.

The primer-grey shell came next, lifted and lowered onto the new chassis for fitment, with custom headlight housings and custom front and rear bumpers fabricated to match the car’s updated proportions. Nothing about the silhouette changed. Everything about how it sits and moves did.

Inside, a custom progressive-retro interior gives the cabin a look that reads 1963 at a glance but works like something built decades later, backed by air conditioning wired into original-style controls so nothing looks out of place. This Corvette looks exactly like the car that started it all, and drives nothing like it.
