The build in detail.
Some builds take a weekend. This 1963 Corvette Sting Ray took the better part of two years, and every hour of it shows. What started as a bare black shell hoisted onto stands for a full teardown ended up on the auction block at Barrett-Jackson wearing a deep candy red finish that nobody in the room could stop looking at.
Underneath, an LS7 crate engine sits on a Roadster Shop chassis, backed by Baer disc brakes, adjustable coilover suspension, and a stainless steel exhaust system built to sound as serious as it looks. This is not a car built to sit still. Every mechanical piece went in with the assumption that someone would eventually put a foot into the throttle and mean it.
The body tells its own story. A custom wide-body kit pushed the classic Sting Ray silhouette out at the fenders, filled with HRE-style wheels that fill the new proportions exactly right. C7-style door handles and latches blend modern detailing into a sixty-year-old shape without ever looking out of place, the kind of update that only reads as intentional once you notice it.
Inside, a custom progressive-retro interior and air conditioning wired into original-style controls keep the cabin honest to the car’s roots. Crown brought the whole team to Barrett-Jackson to watch this one cross the block, two years of work condensed into the few seconds it took to sell. It was worth every one of them.
