The build in detail.
There is a version of this car that everybody can picture with their eyes closed, and this is it. Blue with white stripes. The livery is so familiar it has stopped being a choice for most people and become a default.
Which is exactly why choosing it deliberately is interesting. You are accepting that your car will be compared to a photograph in somebody’s memory, and that the comparison will not be entirely fair, because the photograph is sixty years old and lit better than your driveway. Most people avoid that. It is easier to pick a colour nobody has a reference for.
The build underneath is the one we run on every MKIII that comes through: a crate V8 installed and tuned here, a Tremec five speed, adjustable electric power steering, the full ignition, wiring and cooling installation, and air conditioning, because a car nobody wants to sit in during an Arizona summer is a car that quietly stops being driven. Fitted leather buckets. Roll bar padding. Four wheel alignment, road test, title.
A Superformance arrives as a licensed rolling chassis with no drivetrain in it. That gap, between an immaculate object and a car you can take somewhere on a Saturday, is the entire job. It is also where these projects go wrong, usually not dramatically. They just stall. The chassis sits, the engine sits next to it, and eighteen months pass.
We would rather that did not happen to yours. If you have a car on order or a crate already in the garage, come and talk to us about what happens next.
Blue over white.
You already know.
